How the GutWire B 10 Power Cable Brings Authority and Silence to Your Audio Chain.

Part of the work that requires the most dedication, besides the installation and listening of equipment, is always being on the lookout for interesting proposals to bring to the pages of Et Sona. Much of this effort is directed toward companies that do not have a marked presence in Spain or Europe. Why? Because I believe it is important for the enthusiast (all of us) to know what is offered in other countries and to have alternatives when considering a purchase.
Sometimes it is difficult; manufacturers may have no interest in opening new markets or they do not respond. On other occasions, it is a true pleasure to find people who are not only dedicated to manufacturing and selling high fidelity products but are also true enthusiasts of what they do and offer kind, pleasant treatment. This is the case with GutWire and Herbert Wong, one of its founders. By the way, the company is based in Canada, which surely explains, to some extent, their great demeanor and kindness. For the review, I received a pair of cables: the B 10, the simplest power cable in their line, and the Ultimate Ground Cable, a highly interesting proposal we will discuss another time.
According to the literature and some online comments, the B 10 Premium demonstrates special synergy with integrated amplifiers, power stages, and high consumption subwoofers. It also offers consistent results as a main cable from the wall socket to a line conditioner. I have tested it in a few different scenarios, such as the main power cable for my Lampizator Silk and as the power cable for the Lampizator Atlantic 5 TRP DAC; it has stayed with the latter. I will explain the reason for this later. First, some comments on the B 10.
The B 10 series was introduced as the entry line within GutWire's power catalog. The available versions are distinguished by using different types of connectors. In the Special Edition version, featuring Furutech connectors, comments suggest that these raise performance audibly, providing greater refinement and control. We used the standard version for the test.
Construction
The GutWire B 10 is a power cable designed with a high gauge architecture and selected materials to maximize conductivity, electrical stability, and interference rejection. Within the brand's philosophy, the design avoids the use of added passive filters or corrective components. The result relies on purity of materials, proprietary geometry, advanced shielding, and cold weld termination.
One of the distinctive features of GutWire is the high pressure cold welding process. The connection is made through cold welding without the use of solder. This technique seeks to preserve electrical continuity and mechanical stability, favoring full dynamics, a defined soundstage, and naturalness in the midrange.
The internal braiding pattern and the multiple shielding system are part of the brand's proprietary design. The construction is handcrafted and responds to an integral approach where each element contributes to the final result. Essentially, they haven't just made a cable for the sake of it; they have dedicated time and reflection to it, and the result clearly demonstrates this.
The outer sleeve, in a nice purple color, is both discreet and cheerful, adding a small touch of color to the wiring that, unfortunately, remains hidden behind the Artesanía Audio rack. The cable is slightly stiff but was cooperative when being positioned, and the connectors, even being the simplest in the range, demonstrated good quality both to the touch and when placed in the receptacles.
How It Sounds
As always, brief notes on the equipment used:
Preamp: McIntosh C504.
Amplifier: McIntosh MC502.
Turntable: Pro-ject Xpression 1 carbon, acrylic platter, 8,6” carbon Evo arm.
Cartridge: Audio-Technica AT OC9 MC III / Sumiko No.3 Blue Low.
DAC: Lampizator Altantic 5 TRP.
Streamer: Innuos PULSE Mini + LSPU.
Interconnect Cables: Stager Silver Solids / Final Touch Audio Thebe RCA.
Power Treatment: Lampizator Silk.
Other Power Cables: Bazco Audio L1 (custom)
Speakers: Axxess L1.
Speaker Cables: Viablue SC-4.
Rack: Artesanía Audio Prestige 4 de Artesanía Audio.
Accesories: Artesanía Audio Damper / Gutwire Ultimate Ground Cable.
First connected as the main cable for the system providing power to the Lampizator Silk, it yielded good results. However, I was forced to return to my BAZCO Audio L1 Custom cable for the simple reason of its name: it is a cable custom made for the equipment. This applies not only to configuration but also to length and design given the characteristics of the room and where the equipment is located. I had to move the rack slightly for the GutWire to reach the connection used.
As the power cable for the Lampizator Atlantic 5 TRP, it was used to replace a generic power cable to detect differences. In practice, the B 10 offered a sonic presentation with greater weight in the low end. The bass acquired greater density, impact, and control while maintaining agility and definition. The sense of authority in the music presentation was evident in the first hours of use. The soundstage was presented with clarity and a quite organic image.
Overall clarity benefited perceptibly. The background is perceived as cleaner, with a reduction in residual noise and better separation between layers (this is also where the other GutWire product, the Ultimate Ground Cable, comes in). This improvement in the signal to noise ratio favors micro detail, articulation, and image stability. Less background noise, better presentation. It is that simple.
The soundstage also benefited from an expansion in depth and height. The three dimensional space acquires greater dimension and coherence with a more solid holographic presentation. Dynamic transitions are reproduced with speed and naturalness, providing a sense of rhythmic fluidity.
For example, listening to one of the tracks I use as a reference to evaluate DACs, Chico Hamilton & The Chico Hamilton Quintet - Passin' Thru, the cymbal detail was drawn with the greatest definition I have ever heard in my system.
The tonal balance maintains naturalness. The high purity copper contributes to an organic reproduction with realistic texture in voices and instruments. The result combines transparency with body without emphasizing specific regions of the spectrum.
This was particularly notable when playing Tool - Pneuma. The multitude of effects, instruments, and Maynard James Keenan's voice were presented masterfully, without losing projection on the stage or being forced to cluster in the middle. One of the best presentations I have noted for this track in a long time.
Finally, Bluesiana Triangle - When The Saints Go Marchin' In. The impact of the voice and the well defined instruments showed the perceptible improvement in the DAC's presentation. The openness and depth surprise us and make us sink into our seats while enjoying the excellent projected image. The GutWire's performance, notably better than the generic cable, matches perfectly with the power demands of the Atlantic 5 TRP. I am very happy with the synergy.

Conclusions
In preamp components and digital sources like DACs or music servers, the cable maintains tonal coherence and improves spatial perception. The reduction of background noise and dynamic stability especially benefit high resolution systems.
The GutWire B 10 offers a tangible increase in bass weight, stage expansion, global clarity, and dynamic stability. The robust construction, generous gauge, and advanced shielding system translate into an effective reduction of noise and a wide, articulated sonic presentation.
It is a power cable oriented toward mid and high level systems seeking greater spatial depth, frank dynamics, and natural tonal balance within a solid and well executed electrical architecture.
In my system, I have achieved this. Now it is up to you to try it in yours and, hopefully, obtain similar results. The cables are available through the GutWire website and its network of distributors, including one in Germany for European users.
